IP/FIBre NETWORKS DESIGNER

The IP/Fibre Networks designer will produce engineering documents in the form of work orders which contain detailed instructions and information for the implementation of new or the insertion of existing fibre optic transport nodes in wireless (cellular) backhaul networks.

The skills/duties include:

• Analysis of Engineering Planning documents outlining the scope of the work involved and the high level technical requirements of the project.

• Analysis of existing network configurations and associated projects and dependencies to prepare a pre-engineering view of the various physical and functional details of the project.

• Preparation of engineering work order details including:

  • AutoCAD drawings showing floor plans and physical mounting details of equipment in various indoor and outdoor locations.

  • Wiring and connections details for the equipment required to provision the network including Power; Digital Cross Connect; Ethernet; Routers; Switches; Microwave Radio and Fibre Optic cables.

  • Functional schematics for the network.

• Knowledge of specific design tools and equipment including

  • AutoCAD drafting

  • Objectel physical and Functional design systems

  • Remedy Work Order provisioning system

  • ERICSSON UMTS Cellular Base Stations

  • Cisco 3400/7400 Routers/Switches

  • Fujitsu FlashWave Fibre Optic terminals

  • ADC RJ-45 terminals

  • CDWM Fibre Optic Multiplexers

  • OC-3/12/48/192 SONET Nodal network terminals
